Interview with Ray Cross
When did you start writing erotica and why?
I only started a couple of months ago. I've written a couple fiction novels and I hit something of a wall working on my third. I cast around for something to do to kick my brain back into gear and started working on a short piece that turned into erotica. I was as surprised as anyone.

What inspires you to write in your genre?
When I first realised I was into BDSM and related stuff, I thought there was something terribly wrong with me. Over time, I realised I wasn't alone and now, writing erotica and putting it out there in the world makes me feel like I'm communicating with others like me.

What makes you different?
I'm a man, I decided not to take on a female pen-name in spite of advice that female names sell better. But the reason I think any of this makes me different is, I kept my male identity because I'm very interested in the space between men and women. I've always had close female friends and I've always talked to women a lot. I found their fantasy lives usually far richer than men I knew, but my favourite thing of all is the fantasy that's somewhere in between. So hopefully, what makes me different is my male perspective that is nonetheless deeply influenced by feminine ideas.
